Energy Renewal Price Forecast

Energy Renewal Price Forecast: 02/02/2026

Welcome to our February 2026 Energy Renewal Price Forecast

January 2026 was a turbulent month for wholesale gas and electricity markets. Colder than expected weather and ongoing geopolitical tensions pushed prices higher. As a result, our estimated renewal rates have risen slightly compared with last month’s forecast.

The following tables provide indicative gas and electricity unit rates to help you prepare for upcoming energy contract renewals.

Although this week is expected to be relatively mild, forecasts show colder than seasonal normal temperatures through the rest of February and into March. Unfortunately, this will continue to support short term energy prices. Geopolitical uncertainty also remains a key driver of volatility, and there are currently few indications that these issues will be resolved in the near term.

Energy Renewal Price Forecast- Recommendations For Renewing Your Supply Contract(s)

April 2026 Renewals

  • Carry out a price discovery exercise now to establish an accurate renewal budget.
  • If savings are available, more risk‑averse buyers should consider securing early to protect against potential market reversals.

October 2026 Renewals

  • If budget certainty is a priority, consider running a price discovery exercise now to set a benchmark to monitor through Q1 2026.
  • Buyers with a higher appetite for risk should wait until Q2 2026, while monitoring market trends during Q1. Larger consumers should look at a flexible supply contract option.

Has your organisation thought about?

Many schools and colleges choose standard 12, 24, or 36‑month contracts, but alternative durations can offer meaningful savings. For example, 18 month contracts for April renewals are typically cheaper than both 12 and 24month options. Avoiding a second winter period (where prices are more expensive) or adding an extra summer of lower pricing can significantly reduce your overall energy cost.
